MANAGEMENT TEAM
Sam Scalia - Founder and President
Sam Scalia received his pre-university schooling in California and then went to McGill University. At a young age, Sam developed a passion for construction thanks to the influence of his father and his uncles; the Scalia family has been working in the construction industry since 1957. This passion led him to found his own construction company in 1991. Since he began, urban redevelopment has been Sam Scalia’s mission and today it is that of his entire team. A visionary, he was able to explore and develop this niche that underlies Samcon’s success over the years and has allowed many people to become owners in their city. Today, Sam continues his mission of providing high-quality urban condos at affordable prices. Since starting out, Sam has won a great deal of recognition for his excellent work, including the Builder of the Year award on three occasions, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, and recently the Palme Diamant awarded by Quebec’s home builder association, the APCHQ. It is the industry’s highest recognition of quality and competence. A great philanthropist, he has always generously given to numerous organizations and charities. Today, Sam Scalia continues his mission of consistently offering high-quality urban condos at affordable prices.
Diana Ferrara Scalia - Strategic advisor
Diana Ferrara Scalia has served as advisor to the Samcon team since 1995 and has been actively involved in the development of Samcon through each stage of its progress. As Strategic Advisor, Mrs. Ferrara Scalia focuses on business development and public relations and provides input on the strategic direction of the business. She is dedicated to ensuring that Samcon stays true to its mission of urban redevelopment while remaining a leader in the industry. She graduated from McGill University in 1992 with a B.Sc. (Nutrition). In addition to her work with Samcon, Mrs. Ferrara Scalia has worked with the Royal Victoria Hospital since 1992 as a nutritionist and serves on the Board of Directors of The Priory School, having supported the school in various capacities, including as Co-chair of The Priory Parents' Association 2007-2010 and currently Co-chair of The Priory School “Spreading Our Wings Capital Campaign”.
Christian Bergeron - Executive vice-president
Christian Bergeron joined the ranks of the Samcon team in 1996, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in managing residential construction projects. Recognized for his acute business sense and his management skills and talent, he holds several management certificates awarded by major academic institutions in Canada, including the École des Hautes Études Commerciales (H.E.C.) in Montreal. Most significantly, Mr. Bergeron has a great passion for the construction world and is thoroughly involved in all Samcon construction projects on a daily basis. He directs and supports an outstanding team of managers and staff. He plays a vital role as a management strategist on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee and works in concert with the members of both bodies to ensure optimal management of the organization.
Maurice Gareau, MBA - Vice-president Development
Mr. Gareau has been a member of Samcon’s management team since 2006. He has managed site acquisitions, development concepts and obtaining construction permits. Before joining Samcon, Mr. Gareau worked for more than 15 years in real estate development in Montréal and Québec City and also played a key role in creating and setting up several large-scale projects. With his extensive experience in the real estate field and solid financial knowledge, he provides highly effective leadership.
Paul Martin, B.A.A., É.A. - Vice-president Sales and marketing
Paul Martin joined the Samcon team in 2007. He holds the title of Chartered Appraiser and has held a senior partner position at a Montreal firm of chartered appraisers. Mr. Martin has extensive knowledge of the Greater Montréal real estate market and has specialized in condominium market analysis for many years. He stays on top of the evolving world of real estate by attending numerous training and updating courses within a professional development program. He heads the sales team and oversees the marketing of Samcon projects with the collaboration of his passionate and experienced team members.
Danick Rivet - Director of finance
Danick Rivet is a precious asset to Samcon’s management team. He has more than 10 years experience in finance, accounting, and in company management. Mr. Rivet holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Upon joining the Samcon team in 2006 he worked as a Chief Accountant, and has served as Controller and Director of Finance since 2010. He plays a significant role in terms of strategic planning and is an active member of the Board of Directors. Backed by an experienced team, he leads the company’s financial operations.
